About Chorus

Welcome to Chorus Magazine, a free online magazine aimed at providing high-quality, applicable content to independent musicians that is ethical, diverse, and innovative. We aim to to build the largest, highest-quality, and most complete website for independent musicians on the internet. Need to learn about booking a tour? How about preparing for a recording session? These are the sorts of questions Chorus seeks to answer.

Chorus is run by two individuals, Jeff Archibald & Kelvin Cech, with articles written by expert contributing authors from all over. This ensures that we provide knowledgeable, well-written-and-researched articles from a variety of content experts – you’re not just getting articles from a narrow segment of people.

A Little About Us

Jeff is a musician and graphic designer who runs a successful local design business, including authoring and running a modestly popular graphic design blog. Kelvin is a musician as well as a program manager for a hockey academy who maintains a healthy relationship with writing and editing; at this point he’d probably classify the match as ‘serious’.

Both of us have played in modestly successful touring bands, together and separate from each other. We’ve booked independent tours and have recorded and released multiple albums; we’ve played both packed and empty shows; we’ve designed and sold merchandise and more. Through these experiences, we’ve learned a lot about the life of the independent musician that we’d like to share.

More importantly, however, is that through these experiences we’ve made connections with other well-traveled musicians – people we’re now tapping as contributing authors for Chorus. This means that you, the reader, is getting top-quality content from experts writing in their field of expertise.

A Little About our Plan

Edmonton has a great scene, with many great talents. One of our goals is to gather all these talents in one place; a place where we can share information and help make the roa

Eventually, we hope to spread the influence of Chorus outside of Edmonton to other cities, other countries… OTHER GALAXIES, even. A lot of the information on Chorus is applicable to any independent musician, regardless of where he/she calls home, and it’d be great to reach an even wider audience. We’re talking long-term here though. For now, Edmonton is our focus.

We decided to start Chorus because there was a niche that needed to be filled; an online source of realistic, usable information for independent musicians. That niche has now been filled by Chorus Magazine. In order to stay up-to-date, you can subscribe to our RSS feed or sign up for email updates. Please spread the word, and thanks for stopping in.
